The mission of Shakthi US is to provide a space for survivors of domestic and intimate partner abuse, with a focus on the South Asian community. By providing a safe space and culturally sensitive resources, we assist families in building independent lives free of violence.
Our Services
Driving for Independence
Shakthi US supports domestic/intimate partner violence survivors in gaining self-sufficiency by teaching them how to drive and helping them secure a legal driver's license.
In Central Florida, having access to transportation is often equated with having the ability to drive a car. By providing transportation resources, we can improve their opportunities, mobility, and access to essential services.

Shakthi US assists survivors in obtaining legal support by offering attorney referrals and covering part of the initial fees for legal services including but not limited to:

75% of applicants receive a portion of necessary legal funding and support.
Housing
Shakthi US offers temporary housing support for survivors in need of a safe refuge from domestic violence. Our housing program will address the specific needs of the South Asian community including:
